I love when I go in for the grooms portraits. They may act all fine, but the nerves are definitely still there. A little nervous about the ceremony and having to be in front of everyone, but also about what a huge moment is about to happen! Pledging to be with your person for forever! But they are also so excited. They’re about to see the love of their life all dressed up on a day she’s dreamed about forever. And they have their favorite friends/relatives with them. I mean, that's a great day! 

Then I head in to see the bride. She is normally the one that has planned all the things, coordinated everything and honestly has the most to do. Even just when you think about finding the dress, figuring out the hairstyle she wants for her wedding and how she is going to do her makeup...it's a lot. So the brides emotions often times depend on who she has surrounding her and helping her through the day. I try to find her in the quiet moments and take her portraits then, and try to stay back to not bother her. She is so excited about this day. Excited to walk down the aisle at her wedding, which she has dreamed about! She deserves to sit in those moments and soak it all in.

While I am there in the role of photographer, you best bet I will be helping too. Somebody has questions, I'm answering them or finding the person that has an answer. I have helped the guys with their suits and I have helped ladies with zippers. And scissors?? I always have those and safety pins in my bag because they always end up being needed! I am a keeper of the timeline for the day and occasionally a bouncer outside your door to keep everyone from sneaking in to see you in your wedding dress before you walk down the aisle.

If it needs done, I am your girl. But don't worry. My cameras are strapped to me all day long to ensure I am capturing all the details still.

While the marriage is what is truly the important thing, your wedding day deserves to be celebrated and saved. Trust me, your children will love to look through your photos years down the road and you will love going back through them from time to time as well. Choose wisely and take your time when deciding on your wedding photographer. You want someone you get along with and work so well with. Someone that understands your vision and what you really want captured. Someone that will deliver images you feel, and images you didn't even think you would really want captured in your gallery. Budget is important, but going with the cheapest option is not always best. I know people hate hearing of photos as an investment, but honestly think about what photos are used for. We use photos to show parts of our past, to remember people and events from long ago. You get to save photos forever. When you're old and gray sitting with your spouse, you're going to be so happy you invested in a great photographer.

You will forever find me talking about Conner and Kyndra's wedding. So many people from the families came to help and spend the day together. Things were so relaxed, (at least from my view point!), people were truly enjoying hanging out and everything flowed perfectly. Well, until time for Kyndra to make her bridal entrance down the aisle...false eyelashes might have been ripped off, but she rolled with it and was still as beautiful as ever! And the reception...well it was a fun time! It might have been a cold day, but you would never guess it by the looks of the outdoors dance floor!
