You know how you can look back on vacation photos and you are instantly taken back to the moment? You can remember the location, what it looked like, how you were feeling, the events that took place on the trip. It is like you are there all over again. You might even long to have that moment back again.
Choosing the Location for your Photo Session Matters so Much!
(Imagine me saying that with a slow clap on each word haha!)
Yes, it matters a lot for the reasons of lighting, functionality and such. Making my editing work best, making the light look best on you and not being around too many distractions. Which, if I can make the corner of a calf pen look like a photographic dream, my experience can make a lot of locations work!
But the real reasons it matters so much to me, is these are your memories. You want more than a pretty photo. You want an image you can look at, and immediately go back to that time. The photoshoot with my daughter before her first birthday, nearly 6 years ago, I still remember it. Her chubby little fingers grabbing at the daisies, her giggles as her daddy lifted her in the air. Those are still so special to me, but my favorites were taken at our favorite place: home. I look at the ones of the kids playing under a big shade tree. I wonder if their great-great grandparents used to enjoy the shade of the tree on a hot day. The ones in the creek by the waterfall? I think of the stories their daddy tells about playing there when he was little and all the fun my kids get to have there too. These spots have deep roots attached to them.
Their Story
In the images shared with this post, it was a deeply special location. This big beautiful tree the family is standing under? Andrea told me when it was hay season, they would gather under this big, beautiful tree for picnics. She has this memory of her daddy in the hayfield working tirelessly in the heat, stopping for a break in the shade. I am sure she remembers her girls with their short blonde hair playing under the tree during the breaks. I bet she can even remember their giggles.
Now Andrea has her own grand babies, and how special to have them gathered under this tree. I can only imagine how beautiful the photo wall in her living room looks with these displayed. I hope she smiles a little when she sees them and thinks of her daddy. And I hope she enjoys getting to tell her little grand babies about this picnic spot for years to come.
This is why I never mind to travel to you. To your spot. The place you want to save a few memories at. A place worthy of remembering.
Ready to invite me over?
I don't even have to come in your house! I can stand out by my car until you are ready, no need to have the house cleaned up. (I wouldn't judge anyways!)
I am based out of Gainesville, MO, but I travel to Forsyth, MO and Branson, MO or Mountain Home, AR and beyond often for so many sessions! Just tell me your ideas and we will figure it out!
